Week 10 - 10 Best Models - 5

Image
A 3D collage of my bedroom, its focal points, and what I consider important inside it: based off the 3D paper and photo models seen in the week 5 introductory lecture to making models.

Week 10 - 10 Best Models - 4

Image
Floor plan of my house made out of softwood, string and nails: seeing as how my home discipline is city planning, and floor plans are often a big part of gaining development approval to start building, I chose this way of viewing a place to live, rather than 3d.

Week 10 - 10 Best Models - 3

Image
Bedroom made out of cardboard, specifically food packaging, at 1:2 scale (the paper was at 1:10 and the house 1:13)

Week 10 - 10 Best Models - 2

Wooden house model based off my front yard/lawn, made out of 3mm plywood, astroturf, rope, and put together using hot glue.

My paper model of my living room, with a cut grid pattern to showcase light for the week 6 activity.

Backyard in Fusion 360 Week 9

Image
While this task wasn't as difficult as expected, as my proficiency with fusion 360 grew of the course of the past few weeks, it certainly was a challenge and the move from the 3d design to the 2d illustrator drawing took some time.

Updated Fusion 360 Materials

Image
I realised that in my original model I forgot to make it hollow, so I used the shell tool with 2mm thickness. I also converted into an STL file so it would be ready for submission.

Fusion 360 Materials - Week 8

Image
For my materials, I first started off with brass and increased the brightness to making it more saturated. I picked brass because the shape of my model resembled a brass musical instrument.  The second material was a flecked, metallic green paint because it resembles the wall in my room that ended up being a focal point of many of my real life models.  And lastly, I picked a glossy black as a simple way to show the the shape and  curvature of the model, and if this were a     situation in which I had to demonstrate what I had made, I would want at least one model that is simple and shows its design with clarity.

Updated Paper Model with Light and Scale - Week 7

Image
I changed the model to my living room to add more detail in the environment and furniture, but kept the scale and added the grid design (to represent my mesh back door) to implement light, with the stickman to act as a reference to scale.

Fusion 360 Initials Week 7

Image
I used the letters A, S, and O to construct the shape: while I didn't have the same troubleshooting issues as Russel in the tutorial, my first try had the shapes drawn haphazardly and not parallel to each other.  Trying to move the sketches proved difficult, so I just restarted the model until the shape was to my liking.

Fusion 360 First Draft

Image
Mockup/first drafts of what I might want the models of my living space/room to look like, also just getting a general feel for fusion 360 and all its properties for the rest of the assignment.

Cardboard Model Week 5 + 6

Paper Model Week 5 + 6

Image
Made at a 1:20 scale, whilst the cardboard equivalent is at 1:10 scale. Working with cardboard was much easier and assembling was more precise, however cutting and sizing the paper was easier than cardboard.
